Paris for Indian Travellers: Sights, Veg Food and a Smart Plan

Description
The first stop of most Indian Europe trips: the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and Versailles, with easy vegetarian meals and direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Paris is where most Indian families and honeymooners start their Europe trip, and it is easy to see why: direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, a Schengen visa that covers the rest of the route, and the Eiffel Tower in the first evening. Three nights is the sweet spot. Spend one day on the Louvre and the Champs-Élysées, one on Versailles and Montmartre, and keep the evenings for a Seine cruise and the tower lit up after dark.
Vegetarian food is not a problem here. Bakeries sell cheese and vegetable sandwiches and quiches, crêpes come with cheese and mushrooms, and the falafel shops of Le Marais are a favourite cheap lunch. When you miss home food, Passage Brady near Gare de l'Est has a row of Indian restaurants. Jain travellers should ask for dishes without onion and garlic, as most French sauces start with both.
Paris is a mid-priced city by European standards: cheaper than London or Switzerland, dearer than Prague or Budapest. Book the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and Versailles online before you fly, because walk-up queues can eat half a day. Keep phones and bags zipped on the metro and around the big sights, where pickpockets work the crowds.
